Checks conducted by energynewsafrica.com regarding PDS’s APP has exposed the mischievous act of TV3’s Bridget Otoo for claiming that she has been defrauded by PDS through the APP.
Bridget Otoo, on Thursday, called on Ghanaians to desist from making any electricity payment on the new PDS app claiming that it is a scam.
According to the journalist, the application that is supposed to provide convenience to consumers to pay their light bills with ease is rather stealing from them with no service rendered.
Taking to Twitter, the journalist explained why she thinks the system is a scam aimed at defrauding unsuspecting users.
“PLEASE do not use @pdsghanaltd mobile app!!!! the officer says it’s on pilot bases, I won’t get the money I lost back, plus he won’t even advise me to use it. In. His own words “I have heard the complaint, saaaaa” He didn’t even log mine in eiiiii #Incompetent,” she posted.
“Please for your own good and safety, DO NOT USE THE ECG MOBILE APP!” she concluded.
Surprisingly, her post was given prominence by some major online portals including peacefmonline.com and modernghana.com, without cross checking from the Power Distribution Company whether her claim was genuine or out of ignorance.
However, energynewsafrica.com can confirm that PDS’s App has been working efficiently and Ms Bridget Otoo herself has used the APP severally and was duly credited.
Records available to energynewsafrica.com indicate that Ms Bridget and other customers have used the Application to purchase electricity credit for years.
Her latest purchase was on 10th May, 2019, and her meter was duly credited, albeit there was a delay in the SMS text communication to her phone.
When a customer purchases electricity via the App, the Company’s Server communicates with the meter to credit it with the purchased amount.
PDS, however, acknowledged that, sometimes, the SMS message to customers’ phones delays.
This is often due to failed internet connectivity. The text messages that delay, sometimes, accumulate and reach customers in bulk immediately the network improves when they have started using the credit already.
This cannot be the basis to describe the App as a scam which customers have been using for years now.
Customers on the Nuri brand of meters, who have used the PDS App, can attest to the fact that it is a functioning tool.
The delayed text message challenge, which has existed for some time, according to a reliable source, is being addressed by the new Company, PDS.
When energynewsafrica.com’s Michael Creg Afful contacted Bridget Otoo to speak to her on the evidence of she using the App, Ms Bridget, who spoke in a harsh tone, dropped the call.
When Mr Afful called her again, Bridget Otoo disrespected Mr Afful by saying that she wanted to speak to credible media houses and warned him not to call her line again.
Shatta Wale’s ‘My Level’ is Afro-Dancehall; not Highlife – Musicologist
Many Ghanaians expressed shock when Shatta Wale’s banger, ‘My Level’ won the Highlife song of the Year at the expense of ‘proper’ Highlife songs at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Well, a famous UK-born musicologist, Professor John Collins has contended that song is not a Highlife and just like many Ghanaians, he’s equally surprised the song was put in that category in the first place for the VGMAs.
Speaking to Joy News’ Israel Laryea, Professor John Collins said even though ‘My Level’ has some highlife elements, it has a lot of other elements that tilt it away from the highlife genre.
He rather said he would describe it as Afro-Dancehall. He also said Kidi’s ‘Thunder’ and King Promise’s ‘CCTV’ are also not highlife music. He would rather call them Afro-pop.
The 20th VGMAs was marred by a free for all fight between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy allegedly instigated by the former moments after the Bhim Nation president was declared the winner of the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
I’m sorry: I meant no harm – Shatta Wale
Self-acclaimed dancehall king, Shatta Wale, has apologised for the scuffle that broke out between him and his rival, Stonebwoy, at the 20th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards event Sunday, describing the incident as unfortunate.
In a statement to clarify events leading to the nasty incident which temporary disrupted the awards ceremony, the controversial artiste argued it will be “illogical” for anyone to think that he acted the way he did on the night to ruin the event.
The claim by Shatta and Stonebwoy for dancehall supremacy in the country has festered on for years creating enmity between the two artistes and their followers.
The rivalry between the two hit the roof in the wee hours of Sunday causing Stonebwoy to pull out a handgun on stage.
Stonebwoy who had just been declared winner of the 2019 Reggae and Dancehall Artiste of the Year, was on stage to receive his award when Shatta Wale and his multitude of fans decided to mount the stage with him in what some perceived to be in a confrontational manner leading to the scuffle.
But for the intervention of the security at the auditorium who managed to quell the tension and bring the situation under control, the scuffle could have turned bloody.
The two artistes who were invited by the police for questioning have since been charged and being processed for court.
Many critics have condemned the loudmouth artiste for his decision to mount the stage uninvited and accused him for starting the scuffle which marred the beauty of the prestigious awards ceremony.
But Shatta Wale has rejected the criticisms of his action on the night and justified same, stating he only mounted the stage to congratulate Stonebwoy for winning the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the year.
According to Shatta Wale, the idea to “congratulate him [Stonebwoy] on his win in the spirit of unity,” was suggested to him by a member of his entourage for the night only to be “met with confrontation instigated by Blakk Cedi, Manager of Stonebwoy”
Shatta insisted he “meant no harm” when he mounted the stage accompanied by his security detail.
Nonetheless, he said he is sorry and has apologised to the organisers, sponsors and patrons as well as his fans and viewers across the globe for the incident.
#GILLYWEB GOSSIP: New twist! Chris Attoh’s wife Bettie Jenifer had another husband
The shocking demise of Bettie Jenifer who was known to be the wife of Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh has led to the emergence of equally shocking facts about her marriage life – she was married to another man Kedrick Jenifer!
What is more intriguing is that Kedrick and Bettie were battling in court. He had filed for “absolute divorce” and was seeking some relieves from the Circuit Court of Prince George’s Country – Civil System.
According to a document sighted by JiveNaija.com, the case was filed on April 4, 2019. There was also a motion from the counsel of Kedrick for Beetie to “account for assets” and “for an injunction to prevent dissipation of assets”.
It is on record that the summons had been issued to Bettie.
Meanwhile a screenshot of a conversation which ensued between two unknown persons regarding the controversy surrounding Bettie’s death has been in circulation on various social media platforms.
According to the informant, Kedrick who is in jail over drug-related issues, threatened Bettie after seeing photographs she had taken with Chris Attoh.
The threats sent shivers down Bettie’s spine as she quickly informed the actor, leading to the deletion of all their photographs on Instagram to create the impression they had divorced.
“Chris marry the girl. The girl no tell am say she was married” the chat read. “Her husband de jail for here. Brutal drug delear. So as the pictures hit Instagram, the guy send threats. So she told him make he commot the pics so that stories will start spreading that they break up.”
Chris Attoh’s cryptic message 30 minutes after Bettie was shot
The actor tweeted a cryptic message about loyalty and infidelity just thirty minutes after his wife Bettie Jenifer was shot.
“When it comes to relationships, remaining faithful is never an option but a priority. Loyalty is ever…” his tweet read.
Although the statement is ambiguous, people pointed accusing fingers at him as they argued he masterminded the act.
How Bettie was murdered
Bettie was shot dead while leaving her office in Maryland in the United States of America.
She was shot in the head by the gunman on Friday evening around 5pm and was pronounced dead when police arrived at the scene of the crime.
Bettie Jenifer, according to the report left the office in the 6300 block of Ivy Lane and was walking to her car when a man armed with a handgun approached her.
When she tried to run away, the man followed her and fired at her multiple times, with at least one shot hitting her.
The gunman then fled in a vehicle and is still wanted by the Maryland Police.
Police described the suspect as “a black male with a thin build and black hair, wearing a dark shirt and pants.”
Chris Attoh married Bettie on October 6, 2018 after the Ghanaian actor’s marriage with Nollywood star Damilola Adegbite crashed.
