Drake has shared a preview of a new track believed to be titled “Rescue Me,” and it features a sample of Kim Kardashian discussing her divorce with the artist formerly known as Kanye West.
On the latest episode of Sound 42’s The Fry Yiy Show on SiriusXM Radio, an unreleased Drizzy song surfaced. On the track, he sampled a line of dialogue from Kim K as she talked about her decision to separate from Ye. “I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that,” she said in the clip, which comes from the series finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2021.
Drake hasn’t announced when fans can expect to see the song officially released, but producer BNYX has confirmed he’s behind the beat for “Rescue Me.” In a tweet, he wrote, “I remember when I used to add the Drake acapellas to my beats to see if they was hard. Now look.”
The choice to sample Kim K is interesting due to Drake’s history with Ye. The two rappers beefed over the years but were able to settle their differences in November 2021. It’s unclear if the use of the sample is Drizzy being an agent of chaos or just a reflection of the lyrical content of the track itself.
“Rescue Me” has Drake suggesting that he’s ready to settle down with a woman. “I need someone to be patient with me/Someone to get money, would not take it from me,” he raps. “Come and rescue me/Take me out the club, take me out the trap/Take me off the market, take me off the map/I’m tryna hit the group chat and tell ’em.”
