The Power Distribution Services (PDS) has revealed some areas likely to experience power outages (dumsor) on Friday, April 5, 2019 across the country.
In a statement issued by PDS in which it attributed the power outage to the Atuabo Gas shutdown, the power distributor said the outage is expected to last for 12 hours between the hours of 6:am to 6:pm.
“Customers should please note that since the generation deficit varies, PDS may review the outages depending on the situation upstream; areas on supply may experience outages or scheduled areas on outages may have their supply restored,” the statement noted.

BREAKING: We’re prepared to die for your victory in 2020 – Fishermen to Mahama
Fishermen in the Central Region have given Mahama the assurance that they are prepared to die for his victory in 2020 just to save them from the current hardship they are undergoing under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
They have therefore pledged to ensure that they campaign vigorously to ensure that he wins to better their fortunes because they have literally been out of business since he lost power in 2016 because the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has refused to continue some of the projects he initiated.
The Chief Fisherman of Apam, Ebusuapanyin Martey who spoke on behalf of the fishermen, expressed disappointment in the current government’s inability to provide them with enough premix fuel and subsidized outboard motors which was initiated by the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
According to him, the price increment of premix fuel and outboard motors has made their livelihood difficult and promised to do everything possible to bring Mahama back to power come 2020, saying “even if we need to go deep into the sea to bring Mahama back we will”.
Former President John Dramani Maham who was on a campaign tour of the Central Region last week was given the assurance by the fishermen when he visited Gomoa West with his entourage to interact with drivers, fishermen, market women as well as stakeholders to seek their votes ahead of the 2020 polls.
He expressed disappointment about the collapsing fishing industry under the incumbent government despite several promises it made promising to revamp it when he returns to power.
According to him, the relationship between the NDC and fishermen was tight which started from late President Prof John Evans Atta Mills.
“We are all aware about the untold economic hardship that the governing New Patriot Party (NPP) has brought to this country”, he said.
#GillyWeb GOSSIP: UK-based Ghanaian with 2 vaginas, 2 wombs opens up on condition
It may probably sound like a fairy tale to hear there exists a woman who has more than one vagina and one womb, but Elizabeth Amoah has lived with this condition for quite some time and has now decided to let the world know about it.
Speaking on 3FM’s Drive with Giovani Caleb over the week Elizabeth, also known as ‘Special Lady’, disclosed she has had to undergo seven medical surgeries after she was diagnosed of having sexual complications.
“I discovered I had a double womb and a double vagina canal in 2015 after an MRI scan, so I had to undergo about 7 surgeries,” she told Giovani Caleb.
The scan, according to her, also detected she had Endometriosis: a sexual disorder in which tissues linings of the uterus grows outside the uterus.
She explained having a double vagina means “having one vagina outside and the other inside”.
She added that the double womb usually does not come with any symptoms but rather exposes one to health challenges such as irregular periods, fibroids, irregular fainting and in some instances cause infertility.
“I had a premature baby after four years of not conceiving, and going through such health situations wasn’t easy,” she said.
She noted the condition is not common in women, saying “research says it can be found in one out of 350 women and the person might not even know she has it”.
Having gone through the ordeal, Elizabeth is currently back to Ghana to kick start a campaign dubbed “The Unspoken Topics”, a project she with her Special Lady Foundation plans to use as a tool in educating women, especially young ladies, on female reproductive health challenges.
Commencing a project which will engage young ladies in Ghana on the health challenges women go through reproductively, the Foundation will on Sunday, April 14, 2019 start the campaign at the Nima Berlin Bridge at 2pm.
The project is expected to receive 400 women both young and old for an encounter with Elizabeth Amoah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Special Lady Foundation.
University of Ghana should be renamed after my father – Busia’s daughter
A daughter of Ghana’s former Prime Minister, Kofi Abrefa Busia, Nana Fremah Busia wants the University of Ghana to be renamed after her father.
She said the University of Ghana should have been renamed after her father by now, given his contribution to tertiary education.
Some public universities have been earmarked to be renamed after some key personalities who played diverse roles in Ghana’s development.
The decision has generated mixed reactions from members of the general public with many asking the government to focus on improving public education instead.
One of them is former President Rawlings who has turned down the honour of having the University of Development Studies named after him.
But speaking on the Citi Breakfast Showtoday on the legacy of her father, Nana Fremah Busia said naming the country’s premier university after her father would be justified.
“There is a university that should have been named after him, it is called the University of Ghana, Legon. He was the first African professor there. He established the sociology department; he incorporated the African studies department in sociology, Today when you go to Legon, there is an African studies department named after Dr. Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, who the University of Science and Technology is named after,” she said.
“Kofi Abrefa Busia was the first African professor at Oxford University, at a time when most people had not seen classrooms, so are we going to honour him now with some universities that do not have gravitas? What about Legon. The African studies department for a very long time had the head of the department, Dr. Bami, who is Dr. Busia’s brother. But for politics, he would have been the first vice chancellor of the university,” she said.
Frema Busia also decried what she describes as a failure of successive governments to follow the development path her father set for Ghana.
In May 2018, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo stated categorically that his uncle, Joseph Kwame Kyeretwie Boakye Danquah, a pan-Africanist and a member of the big six, is the founder of Ghana’s premier university, the University of Ghana.
According to him, it was through the inspirational vision of JB Danquah, that Ghanaians were able to reject the original decision of the colonial government to agree to establish a separate university for Ghana.
