ALEALI MAY REPS FOR THE LADIES WITH A NEW AIR JORDAN 6 COLLAB

Published

on

The last time L.A.-bred creative Aleali May caught our eye was while paying homage to late R&B queen Aaliyah at the M.A.C. launch party for her tribute makeup collection. Now, the fairly new Jordan collaborator is dropping some serious heat on us in the form of an Air Jordan 6 colorway made especially for the ladies with a penchant for collecting kicks.

Keeping with the simple-yet-fly nature of her first Air Jordan collab, Aleali freaks it this time with a soft “Rustic Pink” hue that takes over the entire upper and midsole portion. A nice dose of “Bright Crimson” accents are dispersed throughout as well, mainly on the heel tab and various Jumpman logos on the tongue, heel, inner lining and translucent sole. By the looks of this dope drop, we might just have yet another sneaker queen on our hands, joining a respected league of ladies that include VashtieTeyana Taylor and bad gal Rihanna amongst others.

Check for the Aleali May x Air Jordan 6 WMNS “Rust Pink” colorway to hit Nike.com and select retailers on March 15 for $190 USD. More pics below:

EVENT: 12 pm in Kantamanto by Cymple

Published

on

Prior to the announcement of “12 pm in Kantamanto” on 7th March 2019 was the buzz on social media of tweets and photos of Cymple, the stylist, posing on the streets of Accra with the theme “SAD”.

“SAD” became a concept one Saturday when the popular stylist, Cymple, roamed the streets of Kantamanto, the fashion hub in Ghana, observing the movements and activities of people in town.

Kantamanto is a daily busy flea market filled with brand new clothes and shoes, store rejects and second-hand outfits where most Ghanaians shop at lower prices. Out there under the scorching sun, he saw people in his field transport clothes or bolts of fabric on their heads and on trolleys, sellers calling out to customers, some shoving Artifacts in the faces of customers, others pulling their customers into their stalls or shops or table tops, etc. He got the inspiration of working on a collection with everything bought from Kantamanto when he came across the tailors who carry their machines around and those who iron clothes in town, among others who did this to earn a living. In his eyes, it was a sad experience but from interacting with these people, he found out they were happy despite the daily hustle to get people clothes to wear, filling their pockets with some money to feed themselves and their families. “SAD” in his perspective, is beautiful in a weird way.

12 pm in Kantamanto is a runway fashion show put together by Cymple, and a few street brands in Ghana, such as Wae Originals, Tribe of God, Free the Youth and Vigi Force, to promote street fashion in Ghana and acknowledge the hard work of the men and women selling in Kantamanto. It is basically a display of street content. The fashion show comes off on 30th March 2019 at the Moni3 studios-Haatso at 6 pm with tickets going for 20cedis. Come through and let us support street fashion in Ghana.

Acknowledging her beautifully embellished and beaded gown, Bonet says, “This is from his last couture collection from Fendi.”

In their first appearance together on the famed Oscars red carpet, Lisa Bonet and Aquaman husband Jason Momoa color-coordinated their wardrobe by wearing elegant head-to-toe Fendi ensembles.

Interviewed on the red carpet by plus-size supermodel Ashley Graham, Bonet and Momoa shared that this was their very first time attending the Academy Awards. “It’s epic! It’s our first time at the Oscars,” said Momoa.

Eager to share who made their stunning attire for the ceremony, Bonet revealed that she had “the honor of wearing Karl Lagerfeld.” Acknowledging her beautifully embellished and beaded gown, she says, “This is from his last couture collection from Fendi.” A legend in the fashion world, Lagerfeld passed away this month and tons of stars mourned his loss online.

As for the man of the hour, hubby Jason Momoa—a presenter on the Oscars stage—beamed alongside Bonet. He wore a velvet “made to measure” tuxedo designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi (creative director of Fendi menswear, accessories and kids).
